Ben Gurion airport has desks from the main local and international suppliers, many open around the clock. With a car you can combine Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with the Galilee, the Dead Sea and the Negev in a single trip.
Many city branches close early on Friday and stay closed on Saturday. If your trip starts or ends at the weekend, airport branches are usually the safest choice for pick-up and return.

Driving in Israel
| Driving side | On the right |
|---|---|
| Tolls | Route 6 (Cross-Israel Highway) and the Carmel Tunnels use electronic tolls. Charges go to the rental company and are passed on to you, often with a handling fee. |
| Licence | Visitors can usually drive with a valid national licence for a limited period. Licences not in English should be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. |
| Good to know | Check the rental terms before driving into areas under Palestinian Authority control, which many suppliers' insurance does not cover. |
